Major NSW towns left without gas

About 20,000 people in Bathurst, Lithgow and Oberon have been left without gas after an incident overnight.

NSW Nationals leader Paul Toole has confirmed crews are working to restore supply.

Listener Hugh told Ben Fordham they might not have gas for a few days.

Paul Toole full statement: 

“Supply to around 20,000 customers in Bathurst, Wallerawang, Oberon and Lithgow has been impacted by loss of containment on the APA Young-Lithgow pipeline. 

“The incident site is near the Macquarie River and is flood impacted, making access to the affected section of pipeline challenging. 

“APA has isolated the affected section of the pipeline both up and downstream of the location. 

“APA is working on a potential solution to reinstate supply.”
