24-hour ‘spinathon’ raising money for premature babies

Clinton Maynard

A 24-hour spinathon is officially underway in our city to raise crucial money for babies born premature or sick.

In 2019, Joe Blackwell was born nine weeks premature at the Royal Hospital for Women with a serious heart condition.

Baby Joe fought hard for five weeks, but sadly passed away.

To honour the care that Joe received while he was at The Royal, Joe’s parents, Mike and Jayne Blackwell, have created this 24 Hour Spinathon, held each year to continue Joe’s legacy.

Joe’s mum Jayne joined Jim Wilson to talk about the event.
