‘Common sense prevails’: Greens councillor fails to stop Melbourne Cup screening
A Greens councillor has lost her battle to stop the screening of Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup at Lane Cove Plaza.
Rochelle Flood wanted the race banned from screening on public land due to concerns over harmful gambling and animal cruelty.
Lane Cove councillor Scott Bennison told Jim Wilson common sense has prevailed and the event will go ahead.
“This is who the Greens are, they hurt small businesses.
“It comes as no surprise, these are the people who wanted us to carry on wearing masks.”
