‘We are really struggling’: Soaring electricity costs crippling small businesses
Small businesses are struggling to stay afloat with electricity prices expected to soar by at least 50 per cent over the next two years.
It also means the federal government may have to abandon a pledge to reduce power bills by $ 275 from 2025.
Crystal Smith from Maroubra’s Little Big Blue Cafe told Jim Wilson she is having to turn off appliances to save money.
“I wasn’t scared during Covid, but I really am this time. The way prices are going up these days is just scary.
“To think if it’s going to rise again, that’s thousands of extra dollars.”
