Coalition MP Michael McCormack is calling on the government to help prevent another famine in Africa.

The greater part of the Horn of Africa region is seeing a worsening in hunger and starvation.

The Shadow Minister for International Development and the Pacific told Joe Hildebrand Australia should provide food and financial aid.

“Famine has only been declared twice this century … so it’s not that common.

“While we consider we might be hard done by here …  we need to help these countries before another famine is declared.”
