2022 Senior Australian of the Year Val Dempsey is among 10 Aussies heading to the UK for the Queen’s funeral.

She will join the likes of Dylan Alcott and Chris Waller in travelling to England with the Prime Minister.

Ms Dempsey told Deborah Knight she had seen Her Majesty a couple of times.

“Each time I saw her she was like a fairy godmother.

“She, for me, was my absolute most inspiring role model for service before self and, for that reason, I will miss her terribly.”
