‘Can’t blame the referees’: Graham Annesley weighs in on league-record sin bin calls

Clinton Maynard

General Manager of football Graham Annesley has defended the referees’ decision to sin-bin seven players yesterday.

The NRL has come under heavy criticism regarding referees and the bunker being too excessive in sin binning players during a fiery clash between the Roosters and Rabbitohs yesterday.

Only two players will serve suspensions – Tom Burgess and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.

“So if only two players are serving time, why were the others sin-binned including Victor Radley and Taane Milne who both went to the bin twice?” Jim said.

Graham Annesley told Jim Wilson the players went over the top.

“The players went over the top and the referees had to respond,” he said.

“We have a responsibility to the whole community to represent the game as respectable.”
