Treasurer Matt Kean says a billion dollars is needed to meet the demands of the rail union.

Rail workers on the City Circle and Redfern will walk off the job today from 10am.

Union lawyers are considering an approved amended deed which details how the mothballed intercity fleet will be modified.

The Treasurer told Ben Fordham there needs to be an end to the “industrial chaos”.

“A billion dollars to rip out the latest technology from these trains … to rip out safety cameras, sensor technology.”
