How a new program helps young people fill the gap to feed Aussies
A new program is helping young school leavers tackle the agriculture supply chain.
As Australia grapples with a national labour shortage, young school leavers have been helping keep the agriculture supply chain afloat through a national agriculture gap year program.
AgCAREERSTART saw more than 300 people apply to the program to be placed with farmers across the country across multiple industries including grains, livestock, horticulture and dairy.
Host-Farmer Gavin Dal Broi told Deborah Knight the program will have great legs next year.
“It’s a great opportunity for anyone.”
