Australian major league-eating athlete James Webb has taken on a mammoth hot dog challenge in the 2GB studio.

Each year on US Independents Day contestants descend on Coney Island in New York for the hot dog competition.

The challenge is simple, eat as many hot dogs as you can in 10 minutes, whoever can eat the most wins.

James Webb finished in 3rd place consuming 41 and a half hot dogs.

This morning, James smashed down 15 larger hot dogs in ten minutes.

Even 2GB host Chris Smith had a crack at downing a hot dog quickly!
