Ray Hadley vows to ‘scream the joint down’ as Lismore victims cop fines

Mark Levy

Ray Hadley is seeing red over a report a mobile speed camera was nabbing drivers fleeing flooding in Lismore earlier this year.

A Lismore business owner contacted Ray saying he was “blown away” to receive four speeding infringement notices dated for February 27.

“It was the same night we were ordered to evacuate our area,” he wrote.

“All the fines were between seven and nine kilometres per hour over the speed limit … between the hours of 4.36 pm and 5.24 pm.”

He says Revenue NSW has insisted the fines still apply, despite the emergency that was unfolding at the time of the infringements.

“All four fines are issued in my company name and total $2480, as no driver has been nominated and the fines are five times the usual if no driver is nominated.”

Ray couldn’t believe a “stupid bastard” decided to “set up in Lismore” the night of an emergency.

“Can you see any sense in that, except to raise revenue to line their pockets?” Ray asked.

“I’ll tell you what, I’ll scream the joint down unless you do reverse the decision, Mr Perrottet.”
