Anthony Albanese’s wages call a ‘backbreaker’ for small businesses

Business groups are sounding the alarm over the Opposition Leader’s stance on minimum wage.

Anthony Albanese is backing a 5.1 per cent wage increase, in line with the rate of inflation.

Australian Industry Group Chief Executive Innes Willox told Ben Fordham the move would drive up day-to-day costs, mortgages, and business costs.

“There are hundreds of thousands of small businesses and, for many of them, this would just be a backbreaker.”
