Fare free ‘social experiment’ underway as true taxpayer cost revealed
NSW Transport Minister David Elliott says all eyes will be on the success of the 12 days of fare-free public transport that gets underway today.
The move is expected to cost up to $20 million.
Minister Elliott told Chris Smith this is a “social experiment”.
“I’m quite comfortable that we will actually stimulate enough economic activity to justify the cost.”
