Tesla finally reveals sales figures in official V-Facts sales data for the first time

David Berthon

Official V-Facts car sales figures for the first quarter show electric cars gained 2.6 per cent of the overall new vehicle market. 6752 electric cars were sold in the first three months with Tesla’s Model 3 sedan accounting for 4417.

The first time Tesla has included its sales figures in the official V-Facts industry data – not before time and after releasing inflated figures earlier this year via the Electric Vehicle Council. However, Tesla’s latest official Model 3 results are impressive accounting for 65 percent of first quarter electric sales.

Next best-selling electric vehicle was Mercedes-Benz small EQA SUV with 318 sales, followed by Hyundai’s Kona electric SUV with 304, Hyundai’s Ioniq electric fastback 206, with Mercedes-Benz mid-sized EQC electric SUV in fourth place with 172. Porsche’s electric Taycan sedan in (filled out) fifth place with 160 sales.
