Deputy Premier wants ‘book thrown’ at protestors amid announcing new punishments
After the recent protest in Botany Bay, people who shut down traffic on bridges and tunnels will now face up to two years in jail and a 22-thousand dollar fine.
There is now a heavy focus by the police to crack down on the protestors and NSW Deputy Premier Paul Toole said that it is the “first step”.
The fines currently only apply to protests on bridges and tunnels however Mr Toole announced it will be expanding to include roads and industrial areas.
“I’m sick and tired of these blockheads that think they can go out there and disrupt people’s everyday lives.”
“I want to see these people have the book thrown at them.
“I want to throw the maximum penalties at them and to ensure they are no longer wanted here.”
