Chris Smith and the Prime Minister share their best memories of cricket legend Shane Warne

Luke Grant

“He was cheeky but respectful” the Prime Minister tells Chris describes his relationship with cricket legend Shane Warne who has died at the young age of 52. The Prime Minister and Shane caught up at the recent Sydney Test and Shane was encouraging him to keep going during difficult times in Australia. Whilst Shane was a Victorian who all Victorians cherished, he was also a national hero. And onto the flood situation, the PM confirms a $1 billion financial aid package jointly funded with the state governments of NSW and Queensland. He regrets not being able to travel to the flooded areas while he has Covid but assures Chris he is on the mend. With regards to the Ukraine/Russia situation the PM refers to the Russian president as a ‘thug’ saying Russia doesn’t respond to sanctions in the same way as like-minded countries. However Australia and the UK are leading the charge for Russia to pay the price politically and democratically for their actions.
