Frustration growing over repeated train strikes
Industrial action by the Rail Tram and Bus Union has once again hit the rail lines causing frustration.
With the T8 Line shutting down and also the South Coast Line going down it obviously angered a lot of commuters.
NSW Secretary of the Rail Trams Bus Union Alex Claasens told Jim Wilson, “It’s frustrating”.
Protesting over bans on overtime and working alongside contractors Mr Classens said, “this is not strike action, this is simply us taking protected industrial action”.
“We need the bureaucrats to start doing things.
“The only time people listen to us is when we take this type of action.”
NSW TrainLink CEO Dale Merrick said he hopes an agreement with the union not far away.
“We are looking to a reach an agreement, we’re absolutely committed to reaching an agreement with the rail unions,” he said on 2GB Drive.
“We’d much prefer we were in the room talking, rather than supporting our customers through this interruption.”
Mr Merrick said disruptions were being kept to a minimum for now, but they could change.
“I think it would be unrealistic to say we would not see some form of interruption over the next two weeks,” he said.
“The next two weeks will be incredibly challenging for us, but we are there to support our customers through connectivity through the buses or coaches.”
