Sydney family stuck in Ukraine amid fears over a Russian invasion

Ben Fordham

A Sydney man living in Ukraine remains stuck as he waits for his son’s passport to be approved.

The federal government has advised the more than 1000 Aussies in Ukraine to leave.

Ashley Meredith, living in Kiev, has been in the country for six years for work.

He told Ben Fordham he’s struggling to leave as his three-year-old son continues to wait on Australian citizenship and a passport.

“All the Americans have gone, all the embassy staff have left.

“My family in Australia are very worried.”
