Actress Deborra-Lee Furness is humbled after receiving one of the highest honours on Australia Day.

Deborra was awarded the Officer (AO) of the Order of Australia for her work in the area of adoption.

Her organisation Adopt Change aims to give children a forever home and works towards providing access to a safe and stable family upbringing.

The actress told Deborah Knight “I’m honoured to be in such amazing esteemed company”.

The organisation has made significant advances throughout the last 14 years and Deborra says, “Our kids are getting out of foster care quicker now.”

“I love that we have come so far for a not for profit organisation.”
