Jim Wilson’s impassioned plea after catching COVID-19

Clinton Maynard

Jim Wilson has returned to presenting 2GB Drive for the first time in 2022 today after catching COVID-19.

His wife, Chris Bath, also contracted the virus.

They both returned positive tests just days before they were scheduled to return to work.

They are both double-vaccinated and boosted.

Jim described his symptoms as a “niggling cough”, but had a message to those who were downplaying its severity.

“Now to those of you who say ‘C’mon Jim, it’s just a mild flu’ – well, for some people that’s true,” he said on 2GB Drive.

“But I think it’s such a generalisation, and quite frankly disrespectful to those who have lost their lives or got really crook and to their families.

“To me and (my wife) Bathy, it was never life-threatening, far from it.

“But this bloody virus knocks you around, even those that are healthy and fit, let a lone the vulnerable in our community.

“So can we just give this whole notion that it’s just a mild flue a spell? Because it’s a cop-out line.”
