Minister set on raising Warragamba Dam wall

Ben Fordham

The Western Sydney Minister says it’s essential the project to raise the Warragamba Dam wall goes ahead.

State agencies are among the latest groups to criticise the proposal in its current form, calling it inadequate and in need of further consultation.

The Minister for Western Sydney, Stuart Ayres, told Ben Fordham the $1.6 billion project is needed.

“We’ve spent the last three years doing the most extensive environmental impact assessment.

“We’re talking about 80 per cent of Sydney’s drinking water supply, I’m not going to treat that as a trivial matter.”
