Australia is set to host the 2027 World Cup after being confirmed as the preferred candidate to host.

Phil Kearns, Australia 2027 Rugby World Cup Bid Executive Director, told WWOS he is confident Australia will host.

“The last couple of years a lot of work has gone into it,” he said.

“Last nights result out of the World Rugby Council meeting is just what we needed.

“We are in the 75th minute of the match mate, we have five minutes to go and we are leading so we have a little bit of work to do.

“We are pretty confident we will get it over the line.”
