The Minister for Defence Industry says Joe Biden’s comments around the submarine row with France are “disappointing”.

The US President has described the handling of the decision as “clumsy” and said he was unaware that France had not been given advance notice that Australia had resolved to tear up a $90 billion submarine contract.

Melissa Price told Deborah Knight it’s “disappointing to hear that”.

“Understandably the French government are upset and disappointed … but it’s our job to make those really tough decisions that are in our national interests.”
