Tigers legend demands CEO and GM ‘held accountable’ for buck-passing club’s failures

A backflip from the Wests Tigers will see Michael ‘Madge’ Maguire keep his job for now, but one of the club’s greats says blaming the coach is nothing but buck-passing.

Former Balmain Tigers star Garry Jack told Jim Wilson he’s “very happy” Madge is staying on, but wants to see the club take some accountability for their ongoing performance issues.

“They’ve sacked four coaches in the past ten years – Michael Maguire looked like he was going to be the fifth.

“It still doesn’t exonerate people like [Justin] Pascoe  and [Adam] Hartigan who are the CEO and General Manager of [Football]; they’ve overseen the worst recruitment and retention period in the club’s history.

“They should go.”
