Help our farmers by buying ‘a couple of kilos’ of strawberries

Ben Fordham

Farmers are pleading with Aussies to buy strawberries in bulk as the sale price drops below the cost of production.

Some growers have started spraying out their produce four to six weeks ahead of schedule, as the impact of lockdowns set in.

Queensland Strawberry Growers Association President Adrian Schultz told Ben Fordham he’s asking people to buy “a couple of kilos” of strawberries.

“In the next two or three weeks there’s going to be lots of strawberries around.

“You just can’t keep sending stuff away and losing money on it.”
