Cult classic movie transformed into musical theatre masterpiece
Theatres in New South Wales and Queensland are filling up again as restrictions ease, and audiences are being spoiled with more variety than they’ve had in at least 18 months.
Musicals are a big part of that pie, in the space of a few months seeing Hamilton, Priscilla, Come From Away, Frozen, and more. You’d be forgiven for thinking you can make a musical from any story, and the proof is in the pudding. American Psycho – The Musical opens at the Sydney Opera House Playhouse this week.
The musical rendition has come together under the direction of Alex Berlage, who joins John Stanley with details on how a dark comedy film has been brilliantly transformed into a musical theatre masterpiece.
