Fewer than 1000 disability residents vaccinated against COVID-19
Rachel Clun, Federal political reporter at The Sydney Morning Herald & The Age covering health, joins Michael regarding the shameful revelation that fewer than 1000 disability residents have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
‘A senior health department official has admitted the COVID-19 vaccine rollout for people living in residential disability homes needs to be accelerated after it was revealed under 5 per cent of those residents had been vaccinated three months into the national program’, writes Ms Clun.
‘In a special one-day hearing to examine the vaccine rollout for people with disabilities, the disability royal commission heard in some states fewer than 10 people living in residential homes had been vaccinated.’
‘Health Minister Greg Hunt on Monday said 999 people in residential disability homes have received vaccines, and 1527 workers had also been vaccinated through in-reach programs.’
