A family friend of a young Queensland man who died after taking drugs at a festival north of Sydney, says his relatives and friends are devastated.

22-year-old Joshua Tam from Brisbane died after taking an unknown substance at the Lost Paradise music festival in Glenworth Valley.

Anne is a close family friend and has called in to speak with John Stanley, telling him Josh was a talented athlete with a loving family.

“You couldn’t wish for better family, honestly,” she says.

Anne says she grew up with Joshua’s mother in the same neighbourhood in Brisbane.

“It’s just so devastating that these drugs can do this… I just don’t understand it.”
