China’s plan to launch three artificial moons
China has announced the launch of three artificial moons into space over the next four years to illuminate cities at night & reduce the need for street lights.
The first moon will be eight times brighter than the real moon and will be launched in 2020 over the south-western city of Chengdu.
The audacious plan has been greeted with some sceptics and rightly so says Dr Alan Duffy, Astronomer and a research fellow at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne.
