Michael McLaren has questioned the feasibility of a proposal by Inner West mayor Darcy Byrne, which would see the number of poker machines in venues cut in half.
The 2GB Afternoons host has questioned if it will have any real impact on the ongoing crisis.
“What we now have to do is come up with a sensible plan that reduces the harm they cause whilst not stigmatising the cohort that use them for harmless enjoyment and escapism,” he said.
“I’m not sure it’s simply a matter of removing every second device across the state,” he added.
