Infrastructure boom unveils massive job shortage

State governments across the country are investing billions in infrastructure but there aren’t enough workers to fill the jobs.

Chris Stoltz from Engineers Australia tells Steve Price “we’re about to run out of workers and supplies”.

“There is a problem. The demand is great but we don’t have enough skilled designers, engineers and project managers.

“There’s a high level of construction activity but not enough people to fill the roles.”

Chris says now is the time to encourage more women into the industry.

“We want to encourage [women] into engineering. There’s all this work on and we need you.”
