Deradicalisation programs may be failing to stop extremists within our community.

The ”Step Together” phone and online service is an online support service to report and combat extremist views, of any persuasion.

But has been inundated with up to 400 hits a week.

NSW Counter Terrorism Minister David Elliott tells Ben Fordham “any extreme views are bad views in my mind”.

Mr Elliot says this support service is for “families and loved ones who might be concerned that… an individual is being radicalised or is showing signs that may be extreme, can find out what services are available”.

“Some of those diversionary services are exactly what we’ve seen succeed as we deal with the war against terror.”
