NSW doctor admits to issuing fraudulent vaccine exemptions

Article image for NSW doctor admits to issuing fraudulent vaccine exemptions

A formerly retired doctor with a religious objection to vaccinations has admitted to issuing hundreds of fraudulent medical exemptions to teachers trying to avoid mandatory COVID jabs.

Ray Hadley received a tip that Kempsey Seventh-day Adventist school was advocating for people not to get vaccinated.

A sheet of paper was sent out to the school community with details of a Dr John Evans who was providing vaccination exemptions.

The note read:

Dr John Evans *Phone to request an exemption

4973 4845

When Ray rang the doctor for comment he was greeted with a voicemail that said “we are no longer taking any new exemption patients”.

The doctor told police he had already issued 400 certificates, with more than 300 to be issued.

Police have referred the matter to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church said it was fully supportive of vaccinations
