As part of Alan's show to mark centenary commemorations of the start of World War One, Alan re-played part of interview recorded back in 1997 with one of our World War one diggers Frank MacDonald.

Frank was born in Ulverstone in Tasmania in 1896 and died on the 23rd of August in 2003 at the age of 107.

Back in 1997, Frank MacDonald was interviewed by Peter Rubenstein from Media Heads. It was a 3 hour chat and Media Heads have kindly allowed us to reproduce some of that interview for our listeners
