When it comes to small SUV’s Renault’s small 2WD five-door Captur really grabs my attention. Sure its dearer to many small SUV’s and it needs 95 or 98 RON fuel but in terms of what it offers in driving enjoyment it’s very appealing. Some vehicles make motoring appear easy and the Renault Captur is one. On top of that it has absolutely fantastic seats. Captur sales this year are down by 77 percent and of course since it arrived in early 2015 there’s been a lot of new competition – Renault refreshed it several months back, simplifying the range introducing new model names – the entry 900cc three-cylinder turbo manual is now the Zen while the 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbo six-speed dual-clutch automatic comes in Zen and Intens grades. The 900cc manual merely a price leader at $23,990 drive-away and a disappointment, the 1.2-litre auto Renault Captur a gem, especially in the high grade Intense, but at $30,990 drive-away still dearer to many other small SUV’s.
