‘Peak mating season’ for deadly Aussie critter

Australia’s most dangerous spiders are mating now.

Manager of the Australian Reptile Park, Tim Faulkner, tells Michael McLaren funnel-web spiders “will be everywhere” in the next couple of weeks.

“It’s funnel-web spider mating season so they’ll be everywhere. If you see one, put them in a jar and get them to a reptile park drop off point.

“We need them. A lot of people get bitten by funnel-webs and the only way we get them [for milking] is by the public bringing them in.”

Tim also tells Michael about an iconic Australian animal now being milked for its venum.
