Christmas censorship - Political correctness gone mad?

Ray Hadley broke the story yesterday of a film starring Vince Vaughn and Reece Witherspoon, titled ‘Four Christmases’ everywhere else in the world, but curiously titled ‘Four Holidays’ in Australia.

Contacts made to Roadshow films, the distributor of the movie in Australia, revealed that the film’s name had indeed been changed by management.

They said they made the change because the new name suited the movie in the lead-up to the holidays.

They also said many other countries renamed it ‘Anywhere But Home’… but it seems only the Netherlands has taken that option.

Ray went on to suggest that the more likely reason for the name change in Australia would be a sensitivity to other religions that may take offence to the word ‘Christmas’.

As Christmas approaches, will we see a stifling of Christmas, and Christmas related imagery, to appease the concerns of religious people not of the Christian faith?

Have you seen any examples of this?

Have your say.

Are we too politically correct in Australia?

I'm sick to death of apologists and political correctness. This is Australia, we have our own culture, our own traditions, our own language, and guess what? WE LOVE IT. AND we intend to keep it that way. Despite the apologists. It seems in the eyes of some that Christmas has become a dirty word. Go into big shopping complexes and try and find the word Christmas. Good luck. They'll use it in their adverts imploring you to "buy your Christmas presents here" and "Christmas sale now on"

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS is a cancer slowly but surely eroding decency, common sense and logic. Just another example of how the CULTURAL MARXIST Socialist engineers are working to undermine Western culture and Capitalism. Yet most people are completly oblivious to what is going on behind the scenes. Time to wake, actually you should have woken up a long time ago but most people are really slow.

Political correctness “My Foot”! This is just another example of the “Brain Dead” management trying to ensure they squeeze every single dollar out of the box office. Who cares if the people who don’t like the place or its customs (That go back to the First Fleet”) don’t see this movie? It’s only a few short CHRISTMASES ago that “Nativity Scenes” were banned from some shopping centres. I for one am thoroughly fed up with this nonsense from our decision makers.

It is cultural cowardice to erode traditions still practised and enjoyed by the MAJORITY. Social engineering by the atheistic left sided radicals is destroying the country.

Roadshow needs to wake up to itself.
Christmas is loved and celebrated by the vast majority of people in this country, and if anyone was to wish me "happy holiday(s)", I'd either ignore them or say, "Excuse me?"
I have films like "White Christmas" which I watch regularly BECAUSE they're about Christmas and the happiness that period usually engenders in people.
Get a grip, Roadshow. I WON'T be going to see the film whilever its title remains P.C!

It's odd that the USA release the movie as Four Christmases when they are festooned with displays on streets and shops reading "Happy Holidays" and "Seasons Greetings", not one mention of Christmas, yet we Aussies have to pander to minorities in changing it for the petty sign of offensiveness to other religions. I know mates who don't celebrate it but embrace and partake in all things Christmas with everything from carols to presents and food. Pull your heads in, Roadshow, you pack of melons!

Brain Ball, you're a goose! To merely suggest that it's all politically motivated - albeit the Labor party, whom you lie your vindictive insatiable tall poppy jealousy for - is just inconsequential. Get a job, you lowlife! Some shopping centres have avoided the whole Christmas atmosphere with no decorations and no Carols pretty much to the same effect in offending a minority. Last time I checked, Australia is predominantly a Christian nation and as such, we wholeheartedly embrace Christmas!

Wacko Ball, you have an axe to grind with the true believers Labor, don't you? You must have a short memory that the PC brigade came into existence 12 years ago, around the same time your dearly beloved Communist party came to power. If you weren't so ignorant enough, you probably have listened to Ray Hadley who has cleared the air in declaring the real culprits being the distributors Roadshow. There's no political influence whatsoever except your indecent obsession of an obtuse mind.

Its almost impossible to gauge the depth of stupidity in these despotic social engineer fools. This is the result of decades of ideological brain washing mixed in with hatred of Christianity and western socity in general. Is this the kind of "change" that the Labor Party was talking about before the election?
