Should we change the flag?
Television host Ray Martin is leading a campaign that hopes to change the Australian flag, eschewing the Union Jack and opting for a more True Blue design.
Martin has been appointed to the board of Ausflag, joining notable Australians like Cathy Freeman and Janet Homes a’Court in the push to redesign our flag.
What are your thoughts on the idea of changing the Australian flag? Should we keep it how it is? Or is it time to sever the British symbol once and for all?
Have your say.

Carla, you are right on one count, the Brits did not discover Australia but you are wrong on the other, the Brits did not invade Australia, they settled it. Please don't be a history revisionist. It's neither true, smart nor helpful to the debate. I was born here but my heritage is anglo-european as is the majority of the population. I have lived overseas in the past but choose to live in Australia. You too can choose to live elsewhere if you don't like rule by majority! The flag stays please!

Christian Real: you should change your blog name to UNREAL! How the hell can we possibly have an identity with a lously Labor Government running the country. That flag means everything to most Australian's, who would do anything for it. Clearly your from somewhere else! Its nice to see that you and Ray Martin have something in common, your both deluded. The Flag Stays! As for you Real, you can go!

Absolutely not! Stop messing around with this type of bullshit and concentrate on things that matter. The flag has done us proud overseas for so many years, why would we go and change it and send a mixed message to the global community. As an aussie i love the flag, as an aussie living overseas, i'm proud of the flag.

yes we should.without disrespect to the british.the history will remain the same.but our flag design is hardly unique.it,s so close to the n.z flag that my south american friends thought it was the same country.then there is the fijian design and a host of other islands belonging to the commonwealth both in the pacific and the carribean.not to mention the armed forces and the state flags.let,s follow the canadian,s example and come up with an original flag that can,t be mistaken for any other.

The UK discovered Australia? Are you an idiot? The Aborigines were here for 40,000 years before England invaded! The Chinese were here in the 14th century, the Spanish in the 15th century, and several Portuguese and Dutch explorers came ashore in the 1600s. Take your blinkers off, and try listening to something other than 2GB for a change. You might learn something.
Oh yeah, and change the flag. It's an eyesore.
Ashamed to be AUSTRALIAN?Carla
