Hoons – What can be done?

Five young men lost their lives after a horrific collision in Melbourne yesterday morning – but despite widespread coverage of the crash, it didn’t deter a string of lead footed teens that were later caught running into the red.

What do you think the punishment for young hoons should be?

Should we have a raised age for obtaining a license?

Should limitations be placed on teenagers purchasing high-performance vehicles?

Or should we introduce tougher penalties for reckless driving?

Have your say.

Their parents first comments are always " He's a good boy " they have no idea just like these idiots that think they can drive. I have no sympathy for any of them or their friends that die practicing this so called past time ! Get a life loosers. How wud you feel if someone knocked on your door saying your child has just been killed by a speeding driver. If your lucky you'll live

The cops should do their job and police the streets more instead of raising revenue on the expressways, hoons are mainly in residential streets or quiet sections of main roads. The cops should prevent anti social behaviour from starting with high prosecutions on all items that distract these hoons from driving responsibly, such as Doof Doof music, using mobile phones, doing burnouts, loud exhausts etc.Where I live you could stand near the police staion road and get hundreds of plates any day.

Here we go again teenagers killed on our roads,I can join the Army at 17 years of age the government says i cannot go to war until Iam 18 years of age Iam not considered responsible enough to drink alcohol until Iam 18 years of age the list go's on,but I can get behind the wheel of a car and kill myself and anyone else who associates with me.If this carnage was happening in a war the public outrage would beggar belief.pollies grow some balls and up the driving age.

The last few generations have not been taught respect and discipiline.P plaiters should not be allowed on our roads aftert sunset until Dawn. These seem to be the times when they get together with friends and show off. There were 4 lads killed on our road some years back ,a brother of one of those lads recently was charged with dangerous driving and was booked by the police.Guess what his mother has been to the police to try and get the case against him dropped, she has lost one son and encourages

let the law be known to them that they lose their licence for 1 year for a 1st offence,3 years 2nd, and 10 years for 3rd,also the car is impounded and SOLD at auction no matter if it belongs to " mum & dad" too bad. its just like all the illegal boat people now...when they know the law will go soft with them when they're caught they don't care, they need to know the hooning and dangerous driving will cost them just about everything first offence without appeal...too simple put me in charge!

Back in the 1970s I served two years with the RAAF's flying training school in WA. Some of the young pilots had the same problems on the road as the young ones of today. The moment they were strapped into an aircraft though it was a vastly different story. They had been properly trained and were flying to a set of rules they would not dare break. It is a pity we can not do the same with all car drivers.

Simple, introduce defensive driving into the p plater tests and build more drag tracks so hoons can be in a controlled environment and race whatever they want.

The has failed to act in every state and territory, besides raising the fine.

Build More Tracks

An easily plugged in 'computer' like a a Fleetcome registers Time,Speed,Brake, Rev's and Location! Owned by Fed Gov, fitted to every P plater with bond of $1000 to be downloaded every week. This would be the "'Policeman in the Frontseat" every time they Speed or Hoon it's automatic loss of $1000 Bond and licence. On 'graduating' from P's they would return the unit and get Bond back. Zero Tol for wreckless Speeds and Hooning "Fleetcom" has been in Truck's for 15 Year's forget the cost's it's cheap
