TRAMWAYS:

• Spit Bridge to Manly, Harbord and Narrabeen – 1939

• Wynyard, North Sydney, Chatswood, Mosman, Lane Cove, Neutral Bay, Cremorne – 1958

• Various other isolated lines from the 1940s including Brighton Le Sands, Putney etc.

• The main Sydney system – and out to Maroubra, Bondi, Coogee, Watsons Bay, the inner west and southern suburbs and Ryde – 1961

RAILWAYS:

• Disused freight railways to be possibly used for the light rail network including – Dulwich Hill and the Balmain peninsula.

• Fairfield to Prospect goods – 1945

• Prospect to Toongabbie goods – 1945

• Westmead, Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill to Rogan’s Hill – 1932

• Campbelltown – Camden – 1963

• Richmond to Kurrajong – 1952

• Liverpool – Holdsworthy – 1977

• St Marys – Ropes Creek – 1986 (easy extension possibility to Windsor).

SERIOUS PROPOSALS FOR SYDNEY’S TRANSPORT:

• 1915 – The Northern Beaches Railway up to Dee Why via the Harbour Bridge (to be built)

• 1915 – Possible extension to Newport from Dee Why

• 1922 – Eastwood to St Leonards (eventually became the Parramatta, Epping, Chatswood plan)

• 1923 – Extensions to the Eastern Suburbs via Oxford Street

• 1923 – Branch line off the Eastern Suburbs railway to Watsons Bay

• 1952 – Eastern Suburbs to UNSW, Kingsford and Randwick.

• 1968 – Campbelltown to Green Valley to Blacktown line

• 1974 – Parramatta – Baulkham Hills – Castle Hill – Windsor (similar to the Rogan’s Hill line)

• 1974 – Merrylands to Green Valley

• 1974 – St Leonards – Crows Nest – Northern Beaches

• 1974 – Express line between Redfern and Parramatta

• 1974 – Carlingford to Beecroft

• 1990 – Metro West – along the western fringe of Sydney CBD

• 1996 – Bondi Beach extension from Bondi Junction

• 1997 – Wynyard to Ermington to Parramatta

• 1998 – Bondi Beach extension (eta 2002)

• 1998 – Parramatta Rail link to Chatswood (eta 2006)

• 1998 – Hornsby to Newcastle fast service (eta 2010)

• 1998 – Epping to Castle Hill (eta 2010)

• 1998 – Sutherland to Wollongong high speed (eta 2010)

• 1998 – Hurstville to Strathfield (eta 2014)

• 1998 – possible lines to the Warringah Peninsula from Chatswood, an extension from Bondi Junction to Maroubra and a North West railway extended to Rouse Hill.

• 2002 – Lines to Dee Why, between Cronulla and Miranda and between Parramatta, Top Ryde, Drummoyne and the CBD.

• 2002 – a railway from the CBD to UNSW

• 2002 – From Hoxton Park to Parramatta and Castle Hill

• 2004 – Fast rail between the CBD, Parramatta and Penrith.

• 2005 – North West Railway between Cheltenham and Rouse Hill (eta 2017)

• 2005 – South west railway from Glenfield to Leppington (eta 2015)

• 2005 – A new CBD railway between Redfern and Chatswood

• 2007 – Metro announced between West Ryde and Malabar

• 2008 – North West Metro to replace the line to Rouse Hill

• 2008 – CBD Metro to Pyrmont and Balmain

• 2008 – West Metro to Westmead

• 2009 – New West Metro with possible extensions to Maroubra and Kensington.

• 2009 – Epping to Parramatta

• 2009 – Olympic Park to Hurstville metro

• 2009 – Radial transport links to Parramatta

• 2010 – Western Sydney Express Service to Westmead

• 2010 – North West Railway to Castle Hill and Rogan’s Hill

• 2010 – Extension of trams to Circular Quay and Dulwich Hill

• 2010 – Election promise to build the Epping to Parramatta link.
