Mike's career in showbizz spans over a 45 year period. From professional stage work at the tender age of 12 to national television and radio, Mike has been entertaining Australians young and old alike for many years. Mike started treading the boards for Sydneys J.C.Williamson theatre company, singing, dancing in many plays and musicals eventually landing the role of 'The Artful Dodger' in Oliver. After finishing school, Mike joined Channel 10 and worked his way through the Film Unit making documentaries News and current affairs programs. He was then offered an opportunity to move into the Channel 10 production Unit where he worked as Floor Manager/ Producer on many game shows, Variety Shows and No.96. The Mike Walsh Show was a big turning point in Mike's career where he became an 'on-camera' personality, singing, dancing and performing comedy with some of the worlds major stars for more than a decade. To millions of Australians who viewed the show live everyday, Mike affectionately became known as "Shirl", because of his blonde curly hair. After the end of the Walsh show, World Expo in Brisbane asked Mike to present and perform in a high diving, singing ,dancing and synchronized swimming extravaganza called 'The Aquacade Show'. It was publicly acclaimed and won many awards including best show at Expo! During these performances Mike was noticed and asked by John Brennan to return to Sydney and present talk-back radio. 22 years have passed, producing and presenting his own radio programs at various stations around Australia that now finds Mike at Australia's No1 talk station 2GB. |
