Agriculture advocate Frank Ashman has spent years fighting against the New Acland open-cut coal mine, standing up for farmers’ rights.

As President of the Oakee Coal Action Alliance he helped defeat the mining giants in the Brisbane Land Court.

Now he’s taking his fight to parliament, running for One Nation in the seat of Condamine at this weekend’s Queensland state election.

Talking with 2GB Breakfast Host Alan Jones Mr Ashman says he’s just trying to help the local community.

“We’re out there mate, it’s not a punch-up as such, all we’re trying to do is to overturn the wrongs.

“There’s been a lot of support, the people talking to us are trying to look after the Darling Downs as well and all of the food producing capabilities.”
