One of the most important pieces of international diplomacy right now is in regards to China. 

Since the introduction of the National Security Legislation Amendment Bill 2017, which seeks more reporting of those who have financial relationships with foreign powers, there has been a strain on the relationship.

One man who knows more about China than most is former Australian ambassador Geoff Raby who joins Ross Greenwood to discuss this ‘war of words’.

“It’s not the first time, and it won’t be the last time.

“It’s inevitable when we are both so closely integrated with each other through an economic relationship but we have such different social and political systems.

“This is one of those periods when we are in a difficult situation.

“I do think it was a big mistake of the Chinese embassy to comment on this legislation.”
